Apparently these guys get complicated with a variety of colour variations. On the Caribbean slope and in parts of the northern Pacific slope, males develop a pruinose abdomen with a brown base and a black tip. On the southern Pacific slope, male abdomens can be entirely red (non-pruinose). All possible combinations of blue and red abdomens exist in between.
My examples appear to be the classic Caribbean slope pattern. We saw this at Manuel’s Pond behind the Tirimbina Reserve.
